# XH-D02: A player missed sounds or effects: over their rate (/docs/xhlds/codes/xh-d02)

On the console:

```text
[XH-D02] "<player>" missed 12 messages in 10 s over their rate of 25000 bytes/s (effects 12)
```

**Printed:** as `XH-D01`.

Sounds, effects, HUD text and other unreliable data were not sent to this player because sending them would have gone over the player's rate, the bytes per second they can receive. [`xhlds_datagram_budget`](/docs/xhlds/settings#xhlds_datagram_budget) drops it so that their world updates (where everyone is) keep coming.

**Usual cause:** a plugin sending a lot, or a player with a low rate.

**What to do:**

- `sv_minrate` sets the lowest rate players can use; raising it lets them receive more, as far as their connection can take it.
- [`xhlds_datagram_warnings 2`](/docs/xhlds/settings#xhlds_datagram_warnings) prints a line for every dropped message with the module that sent it.
- [`xhlds_datagram_budget 0`](/docs/xhlds/settings#xhlds_datagram_budget) turns the limit off: the data then goes out, and the player gets fewer world updates instead.

## On the server [#on-the-server]

[`xhlds_explain XH-D02`](/docs/xhlds/commands#xhlds_explain) prints this explanation on the server console, also over rcon.
