# XH-M02: A model has more bones than the server and games can handle (/docs/xhlds/codes/xh-m02)

On the console:

```text
[XH-M02] models/player/big/big.mdl has 130 bones, the server and the game handle at most 128
```

**Printed:** as `XH-M01`.

A model the server precached has more than 128 bones. The server, the game library and players' games keep a model's bones in arrays of 128; working out the bones of a model with more (for hit detection, or where a weapon or attachment sits) writes past them, which can crash the server, not only players' games.

**Is it a problem?** Yes, as soon as the model is used: a player model or a weapon in hand.

**What to do:** replace the model, or have its maker remove bones (most models need far fewer).

[`xhlds_model_check 2`](/docs/xhlds/settings#xhlds_model_check) stops the server instead (`FATAL ERROR` and a crash report, see XH-M01); `0` turns the check off.

## On the server [#on-the-server]

[`xhlds_explain XH-M02`](/docs/xhlds/commands#xhlds_explain) prints this explanation on the server console, also over rcon.
