Lowest ping wins. When two are level, the steadier one does.
Browser ping reads a little above in-game ping. For the exact number, order a paid test from €1.99.
What the numbers mean
- GoodUnder 50 ms
- Medium50 to 99 ms
- High100 ms and over
Jitter is how much your ping moves from one request to the next. Under 10 ms is good, 10 to 29 ms medium, 30 ms and over high.
Questions about the ping test
Your browser tests one node of each CPU we run in each city: one warm-up request, then 8 timed requests, one after another. Each is timed from sending it to the first byte back, minus the time the server reports it spent. A node's ping is the middle value of the 8, and a city's ping is its lowest node.
A CS 1.6 server needs very little bandwidth, so speed says little about how a server will play. A speed test would also push large files through the same network as live game servers, and their players would feel it.
Close, but browser ping usually reads a little higher. The browser adds its own work and talks HTTPS over TCP, while the game talks to the server over UDP. For the exact number, order a paid test from €1.99 and check your ping in game.
Under 50 ms is good, 50 to 99 ms medium and 100 ms and over high. These are the bands this test uses.
How much your ping changes from one request to the next. We show the average difference between consecutive requests. Under 10 ms is good, 10 to 29 ms medium and 30 ms and over high. High jitter can feel like lag spikes, even when the ping is low.
